The Mystery Of The Rocking Chair Revealed: Country Living Antiques

Have you visited the new Antique Store in town? Located on 5 W. Second Street, Country Living Antiques and Collectibles and More is “The Small Shop with The Big Selection”

The owners, Mike and Gail Louse, buy, sell and consign antiques, collectibles and primitives. In the store you can also find new hand-made quilts, vintage and gently used books, artwork, fabric, sewing notions and many other unique antique items.

When Mike is not sleeping in his rocking chair (you will know the reference if you have heard the radio ads), he may be at an auction buying vintage or unusual items. Recently he stumbled upon an antique shopping cart, one of the first ever made. A couple from Oklahoma ended up buying it, and could barely fit in their little car. The things we do for antiques 🙂

Gail says that they love their downtown location. The couple first opened the store in their home in Clover Bottom in 2008, and later decided to move to downtown Washington to get more foot traffic. They have been on 2nd Street only since November 2010, but they already have lots of regular visitors.

The store is small, but the variety is big. If you do crafts, you can find a lot of odds and ends of fabrics, pieces of jewelry, embroidery, and quilts.

Gail and Mike have also thought about the guys 🙂

Don’t forget the kids, too 🙂

Some people collect antiques as a hobby, others look for certain type of artwork or Washington history items, and still others like to decorate with vintage objects. No matter what you are looking for, you are bound to find something at Country Living Antiques and Collectibles and More!

Yes, as I mentioned, the variety is BIG! 🙂

Country Living Antiques and Collectibles and More is located on 5 W. 2nd Street, Washington, MO. The store is open seven days a week, Mon. – Fri. 10 a.m until 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. You can reach Mike and Gail at 636.239.1115 or e-mail at glause@aol.com. Visit their website here or say “Hi” on their Facebook page. If you want to know if Mike is anthropomorphic, go and ask him in person 🙂

Update: Country Living Antiques moved to a new location: 216 West Main Street, Washington, Missouri 63090
