As some of you might know, Tyann Marcink, the founder of the Franklin County Area Photographers on Facebook, hosted a photo walk in downtown Washington this Sunday. I had a prior engagement, but I managed to join Tyann and Craig around 6:30 p.m.
We strolled down to the Landing, looking for a good sunset photo spot.
Craig asked nicely, and they let us go to the top deck 🙂
Venturing into the unknown...
The back of the sign really made me laugh... If you haven't heard of the Honey Badger, make sure you watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r7wHMg5Yjg (it's not very clean, but it's funny).
The view from the second floor deck.
Tyann, capturing the sunset. We got lucky and the clouds cleared up.
My sunset over Washington take.
When you take pictures, you always have to look up and down, and change the angle and the point of view. Who knows what you might find?
I liked this one, too.
Patterns are also fun.
And so are little cars.
One of the reasons I love my Canon 35mm f1.4 lens. This effect is called bokeh /ˈboʊkeɪ/.
Remember what I said about looking up? 😉
When you see this photo, you might entertain the thought of a bustling night life in Washington, MO.
Tyann, posing at my favorite door I like to use as a backdrop for senior photo shoots.
Sometimes while walking, you stumble upon a find. Like this new shop coming soon on Front Street!
I was going to use this photo for "Where in Washington?", but I thought it would be too obvious. Do you know where you can find this whimsical red door?
Dusk is always beautiful, because the sky turns into gorgeous blue.
I have a thing for reflections.
A different take on the Waterworks building.
Front street with Turkish blue sky.
Sometimes it's nice to go black-and-white.
So, this is what a photo walk is - strolling around town with other people with cameras who share the love for photography. No fancy gear required, just a desire to take pictures and have fun with it. No rules, no specific subjects, just whatever you see and makes an impression on you.
Craig, Tyann and I. I called this photo "Charlie's Angles". Not even close, I know, but it's all about having fun! 🙂
Want to go on a photo walk? I am thinking to host one next month! Look for updates on Facebook. If you haven’t liked Franklin County Area Photographers on Facebook yet, you can do it here. A big THANK YOU to Tyann for organizing the photo walk. To follow more of what she does, take a look at her website. Craig has a photography page on Facebook you can go and like, like I did. Did you know that I have a new website you can purchase photos and photo products from? Click here to see it. It is still a work of progress and if you want me to add something, I take requests 🙂
