Gary Lucy Gallery: A Downtown Symbol

Located on the corner of Main and Elm Streets, Gary Lucy Gallery is the home of the famous artist’s renowned and beautiful paintings. As strange as it may seem, Gary Lucy never envisioned a life in art. He went to college to pursue a degree in marketing and advertising. However, Gary’s path changed direction after an invitation to take a drawing class with a friend. In 1972 he began his career as an artist, selling paintings out of his studio, for whatever the materials he used cost. Now Gary has his own Gallery in Washington, and a beautiful studio with a wonderful river view. His wife Sandy runs the gallery, and she also happens to be the frist woman mayor of Washington. I had the pleasure of visiting with her one afternoon, and she gave me a tour of the galley.

Gary R. Lucy Gallery was established in 1980. It used to be located on Elm street, and it has been at its current location on the corner of Main and Elm since 1984.

In the gallery you can admire Gary's beautiful paintings from up close. From his early work as a wildlife artist to his current theme of historic interpretation of life along the Missouri river, there is something of interest for everyone.

The Gallery also offers professional custom framing services. The staff is always ready to assist you in finding the perfect solution for your framing needs.

They also have a beautiful selection of exquisite gifts for any occasion.

Browsing through the large selection of gift ideas and decorating accessories is always a delight!

Getting married soon? You can create your Wedding Registry at Garry Lucy gallery!

The variety of gift items with Gary's prints always make for a great gift.

Gary Lucy Gallery also carries some adorable baby items.

I love the building the gallery is housed in. Gary's work depicts Washington's history and life along the Missouri river, and the gallery simply belongs in downtown Washington.

My host for the day, the charming Sandy Lucy, successfully manages to represent her talented husband and the beautiful town of Washington in her roles as a gallery owner and mayor.

Gary R. Lucy Gallery is located on 231 W. Main Street, Washington, MO. You can reach them at 636.239.6337 or visit their website www.garylucy.com.

  1. Gorgeous gorgeous pictures of the gallery! I think Sandy’s doing an awesome job as our mayor too! It can’t be easy juggling everything but she does it with class and style!
