“History Days” at the Museum

All 4th graders within the city limits had a lot of fun at the Historical Museum yesterday and today. The fire trucks were just a small part of what the members of the Historical Society had in store for the kids.

The children learned a lot about Early Washington History, the Civil War, and the Washington soldiers.

They looked through the exhibits at the museum and participated in the talks, asking and answering questions.

The kids also learned about the Corn Cob Pipe Factory in town, and looked at pictures of famous pipe smokers.

Without a doubt, everyone was excited to make their own corn cob pipe.

The corn cobs that are being used for pipes are specially grown across the river, and most of the work that goes into making the pipes is done by hand.

Some kids knew very well how it’s done 🙂
