Open Your Eyes: Obermark Optometry

One of the main differences between Europe and the USA is driving and the proximity of things. Many cities in the USA try to recreate the European lifestyle by setting up “Live. Work. Play.” neighbourhoods, the idea behind them being to live, work and shop in the same area without having to drive. Walking has many advantages, one of them being that is keeps you in shape. It also saves you gas money.

When I meet somebody new, the two inevitable questions are: “Where are you from?” and “Why Washington, Missouri?” We picked Washington, Missouri as a place of residence because it feels European. The architecture, the small shops, the restaurants – they are all one of a kind. And so is Obermark Optometry.

Obermark Optometry is located on 222 West Main Street in Washington. They have been in business for 17 years. In the beginning they were on Elm Street, but they quickly outgrew the space and moved on Main.

Meet Becky, the manager. She says that they love their downtown location and being involved in the community. They do a lot of charity work, providing eye care to the Lions Club members in Washington, St. Clair, Belle and other surrounding towns.

Obermark Optometry is a unique community optometrist practice destination for the delivery of premium eye care in Washington & Belle Missouri. Their mission is to provide the highest quality of professional vision care including its relationship to the overall health and well being of the people and the communities they serve.

From primary eye care to medical management of eye diseases, Obermark Optometry is an all-encompassing practice. They carry lots of designer frames, but they have student packages, too.

It is always a good idea to have a routine eye exam. My brother was diagnosed with a rare form of glaucoma, which could leave him blind. Luckily, the doctors discovered it in time and with a “simple” eye surgery now his vision is perfectly fine.

Don’t forget the sunglasses 😉 This is an accessory you need to splurge on, the cheap ones will only damage your vision more.

Obermark Optometry caters to all and they are a provider of many different insurance plans. Currently they are moving from paper to electronic records, which provides better and easier access for doctors. They love supporting the other downtown businesses, and they got their new computers from WashPC. Buying local is important, it makes the community grow 🙂

Obermark Optometry is located on 222 W. Main Street in Washington, MO. You can reach them at 636.239.7144 or obeopt@yhti.net.
