Turns out “Re-Discover Washington” is an addiction. When I originally started the blog nine months ago, I was only going to do it for a short period of time. However, everybody went along with my crazy idea, and now I meet somebody new everyday who I need to interview for the blog. It keeps life interesting and fun! 🙂
Meet Shawna. She has been living in Washington only since 2010, but she is already a proud vendor at the Farmers’ Market. You can find her there every Saturday, selling beautiful hand crafted jewelry.
One of Shawna’s signature pieces are her washer pendants. How did she get into jewelry making? Shawna used to work as a veterinary technician and she loved her job. However, when her son Lane was born she wanted to spend some more time with him. Making jewelry has always been her hobby, so she decided to follow her passion and turn it into a successful business.
Her first sale was a pair of earrings she sold to a friend in Utah. Now through her online shop she sells jewelry all over the USA and to countries like Canada, Scotland and Australia.
Shawna’s Custom Pea Pod Necklaces are one of her best-sellers. They make for a great gift and they look amazing with any outfit. When she first started her business, Shawna joined a lot of networking sites and ran many Facebook contests. Now she has an online Etsy shop and she also sells her jewelry at the Farmers’ Market.
She recently started working more with gemstones, developing a new more customized line of jewelry. Her inspiration comes from browsing websites such as Pinterest and Etsy: Shawna finds creative designs and puts her spin on them.
Shawna creates most of her jewelry during nap time, and in the evenings when baby Lane is asleep. Her new business gives her the opportunity to stay at home with her baby and do something that she loves. Visit her at the Farmers’ Market this weekend!
