The American Bounty: Re-Defining Fine Dining

When you are looking for a place to eat out for a special occasion, the American Bounty always comes to mind. Located in the historic Tibbe district in downtown Washington, with a breathtaking view of the Missouri River, this restaurant is housed in an old wine and tobacco shop dated back to 1858. Famous for its fine dining, delicious food, and wonderful atmosphere, the American Bounty is a popular spot for both, locals and tourists alike.

Meet Chef Brian Manhardt. Brian started working in the kitchen since he was 15, and when he was in his 20ties he was the Executive Chef at the Sheraton at Westport. Cooking has always been his passion, and having a restaurant of his own has always been his dream.

Brian had a detailed business plan in place when he started looking for a building for his restaurant. Originally, he was looking at the St. Charles historic riverfront, but when he stumbled upon the building on Front Street in Washington he knew that his search was over.

A former wine and tobacco shop, the historic building that houses the Restaurant and the Wine Bar has a character and ambience of its own.

High quality food and beverages geared toward adults, dim lights, and soft music are just a few of the details that have drawn people to the American Bounty since 1995. And don’t forget the amazing river view.

The restaurant and the wine bar upstairs are also a great place to hold a special event, like a birthday or bachelorette party.

Brian is a patron of the arts, and he lets different local artists exhibit at the American Bounty every month. For a list of the current and future exhibits you can visit their website.

The food at the American Bounty never disappoints. The day I went to visit Brian, they were serving dinner at Music at the Market and they had some amazing specials. If you haven’t tried their Warm Green Apple Cobbler, you have to. It’s to die for, baked fresh when you order it.

The Bounty is now serving lunch as well! Their Caesar salad is phenomenal! They also have burgers, pizza, and other special creations.

Did you know that the upstairs of the American Bounty houses the Wine Bar? It’s the perfect place to meet up with some friends for a casual and relaxed evening.

They serve other drinks besides wine… Rumchata (the big white bottle) is my personal choice 😉

Cosy, romantic and laid-back. River view and wine. Good company. Tasty food. The American Bounty Wine Bar.

Did you know that if you become a member of the Loyal Lounge Lizard Wine Club you get your own personalized wine glass? Plus many more special promotions and discounts.

Chef Brian Manhardt is trying to re-define fine dining and turn the American Bounty into a popular riverfront bistro. With its amazing location, historic ambiance, great shady patio and extraordinary food, that won’t be hard to do. Next time you are looking for a place to go out and eat, think American Bounty. You won’t be disappointed.

The American Bounty is located on 430 W Front Street Washington, MO. You can reach them at 636.390.2150. Visit them online here.
