Lately, there has been too much talk about healthy living and eating good food. Why? Because it’s our natural state that we have been drifting apart from it. Gone are the days of home cooking and eating only what is in season. Everything is readily available in the store, and making dinner takes 5 minutes and a microwave. Time saver? Yes! Easy? Certainly! Delicious? Far from it. Nutritious? Definitely not. It’s about time we went back to our roots and took more time and care of ourselves.
The Washington Wellness Committee is a new group formed by a number of Washington residents. The goal of this committee is to educate children and parents on different ways to incorporate healthier changes into their lives, and to familiarize them with the resources available in Washington and the surrounding area. How? As a start, with the “Wake Up to Wellness” Health Fair this Saturday, March 9, 11am- 4pm at the City Park Auditorium in Washington, MO.
At the Health fair you will be able to meet many of the area’s health and wellness professionals, such as The Washington Healing Arts Center, Demko Orthodontics, Mercy Diabetes & Nutrition, Hillermann’s Nursery and Florist, Back on Track Chiropractic, YMCA, Buddies not Bullies, Mercy Hospital Washington Auxillary, The Competitive Edge, Counseling Concepts, Curves, Swiss Just, Gateway Center for the Arts, Juice Plus, N-Sports Rec Center, Pro Rehab, Revolution Cycles, Washington Lion’s Club, Todd Geisert Farms, The Wellness Spot, Alex and Company Bath and Home, Midwest Podiatry, Washington School District, Our Lady of Lourdes.
