Downtown Washington, Inc. brings some of the most amazing festivals and events downtown! To open the season, they put together the 5th Annual Main Street BBQ & Bluesfest, April 19 and 20th at the historic downtown district. Formerly known as Cruise with the Blues Downtown, it has been transformed into a two-day family-oriented event with a professional BBQ competition and live Blues music. Great fun, delicious food and wonderful tunes. Don’t believe me? Take a look at the photos!
The Main Street BBQ & Bluesfest is a great family event, and people come from near and far to enjoy it.
Needless to say, the parking lots are full, especially on a beautiful day like today.
It all begins on the corner of Main and Elm Street downtown, where the parking lot has been transformed into a concert venue and a food court. Have you noticed the Downtown Kiosk?
The Farmers’ Market stays open until 5pm for the event, giving a chance to more people to enjoy it.
Sampling the delicious barbecue is what everybody here is looking forward to.
And the awesome live music, of course. The entertainment on Saturday was provided by the Paul Cockrum Trio
and the Kingdom Brothers.
It’s always great to see so many people walking downtown!
Aimee and Bridgette from Downtown Washington Inc. are making sure that everything runs smoothly. These ladies know how to organize successful events!
For only $7 you get to sample all of the deliciousness the 50 BBQ teams have to offer, and you also get to vote for the People’s Choice Award!
There is always a line for tickets…
Let the sampling begin!
BBQ shots is what they call them…
And this is how it starts…

Our own Todd Geisert Farms.
Tools of the trade.
“You know who to vote for!”
The food court is always the place to be.
Especially when there are drinks involved.
A great event to mingle and socialize.
Everything is better with live music.
Loving the festival logo this year.
The BBQ and Bluesfest definitely draws a crowd!
And it’s so much fun for the whole family! Always the third weekend in April.
This guy had the right idea… basking in the sun, away from the madding crowd.
