When we first moved to Washington and we heard about Sunset on the Riverfront, we decided we need to check it out. We went to the riverfront park, there were tons of people, and we didn’t know a soul. We walked around, listened to some music, and shortly after we left. It looked like a fun event for the locals, but we didn’t get it. However, the next Sunset we went to was a whole another story. And the next one. And the next one. And the next one. It definitely helps when you know more people. This year we couldn’t wait to kick off the season with the April Sunset on the Riverfront which took place last evening, 5-8pm.
I had a photo shoot downtown yesterday, and after that I headed straight to the riverfront. Many other people had the same idea.
This monthly event put together by Downtown Washington Inc. attracts a huge crowd, and it’s always a good idea to bring your lawn chairs along.
These lovely ladies (and gentleman) will be happy to sell you some drink tickets: for $15 you get 6 drinks of your choice.
Augusta Brewery is there at every Sunset to cater to the beer lovers, and next to them Stone Hill Winery was offering wine.
The drink tents are always popular…
If you want to get something to eat, you better do it as soon as the event starts at 5pm. The food is so good, it usually sells out by 7pm.
Every event is sponsored by different local restaurants and shops. The Fudge Shoppe had lots of yummy treats.
You can safely bring your kids along and listen to the live music.
In April the band providing entertainment was the Texas Giants. Everybody loved them!
When the weather is beautiful, there is nothing better than enjoying some live music and good food at the riverfront.
Sunset on the Riverfront is also a great event for socializing. You get to see many people you don’t usually meet on regular basis, and it’s nice to catch up and see what’s new.
As the sun sets, there are more people by the drink tents, and they are definitely merrier… 🙂
So, are you coming to the next Sunset on the Riverfront? It’s always the 4th Thursday of the month!
