A Call For 175th Anniversary Parade Float Designs

So somehow, someway I was invited to join the 175th Anniversary Parade Committee, and from our first meeting I can tell you it is going to be an amazing event! The best part? You can help design some of the main floats! Read for details below!

Plans are underway for the 175th Birthday Parade to celebrate Washington, Missouri on Saturday, May 24, 2014! It will be an amazing celebration!

The Parade Committee is seeking interested, artistic individuals to provide creative direction for our 7 anchor floats.  The winning design ideas will be presented to local service organizations who will then build the floats.

The float themes epitomize what all of us love about Washington. The concepts are:

  • 175 Years of Freedom
  • 175 Years of  Education
  • 175 Years of Industry
  • 175 Years of Commerce
  • 175 Years of  Agriculture
  • 175 Years of Family Life
  • 175 Years of Volunteerism

To participate in this contest, you should submit float sketches that represent one or more of the above themes.  Each entry/sketch should be a minimum of 8 ½ x11 design.  All entries must be received by October 15, 2013.

The top 3 designs will receive a cash prize:  $300 – First Place, $200 – Second Place and $100 Third Place.  The selected float designers will be recognized on the floats and on all parade material.

Please email your entry to: washmo175parade@gmail.com or mail to: Float Designs, 3921 Mealer Lane, Washington, MO  63090.
