If I told you that there is a company which produces premium tactical gear right within the city limits of Washington, and they sell their products in six continents you probably wouldn’t believe me. And if I mentioned that some of the amazing products they make have been featured in the “Die Hard” movies, “Miss Congeniality” and many other famous films, you’d probably think that I am making up stories. However, it’s all true. The name of the company is Elite Survival Systems and the owner, Bryan Bogue, gave me a tour of their facility along with an interview for the blog!
Meet Bryan, the owner of Elite Survival Systems. Bryan bought the company from his parents in 2003, and he’s been operating it and growing it ever since.
Located on 310 West 12th Street in Washington, MO, Elite Survival Systems have recently expanded their space due to the rapid grow the company has been experiencing lately. A good problem to have!
When Bryan acquired the company, he did pretty much everything – from the accounting to the actual manufacturing of holsters, cases and bags. In 10 years their product line has expanded a lot, and now he employs a versatile team of individuals. Everyone in the office has worked at the warehouse and has experienced first-hand how the products they sell are being made.
Almost all of the products Elite Survival Systems offers are made in the USA, most of them right here in Washington. In the warehouse materials are being measured, cut, and sewn and the final product is being packaged and shipped.
I was fascinated by this machine that cuts little pieces of cord used for the zippers of the bags…
Elite Survival Systems are mostly known for their holsters and belts, and when you ask them what they do they will tell you they make “consumer products with a twist”. A little known fact is that many of the bags and backpacks they make are used by agents in the Secret Service. Yes, you read that right. The agents travel a lot, so they need something durable they can trust. And Elite Survival Systems provides that, as well as a guarantee for the quality of their products.
Bryan himself designs some of the new products, and when he comes up with a new design he puts it together to make sure it is going to work. This here is his sewing station.
Elite Survival Systems have more than 300 products in their catalog, and they attend a couple of big trade shows every year (some in the USA and some abroad). As soon as you start typing “Elite Surviv…” in Google, their website comes up. I’d say, they are pretty popular around the world.
This young man takes pictures of all products for the website, and also designs all of the ESS ads placed in national magazines.
You might have heard of Elite Survival Systems before, you might even own some of their products, but you maybe did not know that they are made right here in Washington. It’s amazing how you can be famous all over the world, but not in your own hometown.
The new expanded warehouse space makes it easier to store and ship ready made products. But, with the rapid growth of the company, it might not be enough soon.
Bryan, however, loves their location and is not planning on moving soon. He enjoys the proximity to the downtown area, and the local restaurants. The ESS team has a business meeting every Monday at Blue Duck Cafe and Bakery, just down the street from the warehouse.
So, how can you get a hold of some of the Elite Survival Systems tactical gear? In Washington you can buy their products at Nick’s Gun and Pawn and Lock’N’Load. It’s really easy to find a dealer near you on their website.
Bryan and his father, who still works for the company and is proud that his son chose to grow the family business. Elite Survival Systems have distributors on all six continents and do a lot of work for the Government. Not bad for a company from a small town. It goes to show that it doesn’t matter where you are coming from, if you work hard and have a great product you are going to go far.
How couldn’t you love Elite Survival Systems? They are loyal to the US industry, they guarantee their products, they use a variety of innovative practices in the manufacturing, and they put Washington on the map when it comes to quality tactical gear and equipment for military, law enforcement and the shooting enthusias. Naturally, their customers love them:
“This rifle case is a magnificent work, and made in the U.S.A.! A ten rating simply does NOT do it justice. I will be making more purchases from Elite Survival. Thank you for a quality product at a fair price. Mike G.”
Working with your family is not always easy, but it can also be fun. These guys made me laugh so hard, that the only photo of the three of them I got is the one where Tony (the amazing Sales Manager) has this face that made me laugh and shake and get blurry photos after that. As I said before, you got to love Elite Survival Systems!
Elite Survival Systems products are sold primarily through their network of dealers and distributors, as well as military and law enforcement sales. They are a GSA contract holder, and products are available at gsaadvantage.gov. Products can also be purchased online through their website, and can be ordered over the phone via their print catalog.
