Change: we love it, we hate it. However, it usually signifies growth and development, so when I heard the news that Blue Duck Cafe and Bakery is relocating from High Street to Front Street downtown, I was excited! This meant bigger dining room, extended working hours, and walking distance! Karmen and Chris know I am a big fan of their desserts, so when they talked to me about putting some of my photography prints in the New Duck, I was excited that they are fans of my work as well. That’s how I got a preview of the new place on Front Street, and I could not wait to visit it on the first Family & Friends night before the grand opening on Monday.
Although I have been to the new location a couple of times before the opening, a lot has changed in the last week! Andy Unerstall and his crew have done a wonderful job with the new building, and every detail is meticulously in place: from the blue hydrangeas outside to the adorable Blue Duck sign mounted to the side of the building.
We had good company for the evening, and I was sure the food and atmosphere would be excellent.
If you have never been able to taste the delicious cuisine at Blue Duck because you work during the day, now you can go there for dinner! Or lunch and dinner. Or lunch, afternoon dessert and dinner. Even better, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and some cocktails with friends. You can’t go wrong with Blue Duck 😉
The Blue Duck greets you from the doorway and welcomes you into the spacious and inviting dining room.
Do you see my metal prints on the wall? Exciting! I loved Karmen and Chris’ selections! 🙂
The New Blue Duck has a full bar and a special cocktail menu!
The Nook: the perfect spot at New Duck to gather with friends for a drink!
After we toured the place it was time to get seated and place our order. Nothing more exciting than a new menu!
I loved all the blue accents and the fresh flowers!
Naturally, we ordered blue cocktails first. The Blue Duck Margarita, I think 😉
I am so glad we got the onion tart – it was amazing!
The assorted meat platter was equally as good – we ate every bit of it!
It was time for the next cocktail on the menu.
Everything on the dinner menu sounded good, and it took me a while to decide between fish, duck or steak.
I opted in favor of the Duck Quarter – so delicious!
The benefit of going out with friends: you get to sample their meal 😉 The Flat Iron Steak was nothing short of amazing.
Cheers! The guys were determined to try every cocktail on the menu…
There were lots of familiar faces around, and I didn’t miss the chance to take a photo of Andy and his lovely wife Colleen. Thanks to his construction company we have a beautiful development on the riverfront with the most gorgeous view.
The new Blue Duck couldn’t be busier at their first night at the new location! Everybody wanted to experience the atmosphere and taste the delicious food.
Karmen found the time to stop by and greet us. The last couple of weeks have been really hectic for the Blue Duck team, but the new location is totally worth all the work.
So many happy customers 🙂
Dessert is one of the things you should always have after a meal, especially at Blue Duck.
My personal favorite – Karmen’s amazing Opera Cake. Words cannot describe how delicious it is, you just have to taste it.
We filled out our comment cards with nothing but “excellent” – the food, the service, the atmosphere were all delightful!
Chris and Karmen, the owners of Blue Duck, are some of the sweetest people I know. They couldn’t be more excited about their new location!
The front of the restaurant looks even more appealing in the evening.
Did I mention they have a great patio?
I feel that we are so lucky having so many great restaurants downtown, and Blue Duck is definitely a wonderful addition on Front Street! Visit them today – they are officially open at the new location!
