If you miss Mannwell’s Coffee Alley like me, I have exciting news for you: we are getting a coffee shop downtown!!! A little more than a year ago, I blogged about the need for that, sharing how a coffee shop is not just a place to go and get coffee but also a place where people meet, gather and socialize. So, guess what? Dreams come true! Welcome Soguk Lounge Cafe at 5 West Second Street, where Soguk Hookah Lounge is currently at!
A hookah lounge by night, and a coffee shop by day – you are already familiar with this place, but it’s been completely redesigned.
Meet Brittany Just, co-owner of the lounge with Justin Miller. Brittany loves coffee, and and for the last two months she’s been on a mission to bring you the best coffee shop experience to Washington, MO.
Brittany decided to go local and the new coffee lounge is proudly brewing Mississippi Mud Coffee. The brand was recently selected as one of the best coffee roasters in St. Louis by Feast Magazine!
If you are not a coffee fan, you can stop by the lounge for a high quality tea.
The new coffee lounge boasts with beautiful light, cozy couches, and clean and modern decor: the perfect place to catch up with a friend over a steaming cup of coffee. It officially opens on October 8th, and it will be open daily from 6am to 2pm.
Brittany updated the atmosphere of the lounge, complete with a fresh coat of paint, new flooring, beautiful artwork on the walls and little finishing touches.
Soguk Lounge Cafe will be serving regular coffee and espresso, along with your favorites: latte, cappuccino, mochas, hot tea, sweet tea, frappes, etc. Brittany loves to experiment with coffee-based drinks and she will be having seasonal specials as well.
While I was there to interview her for the blog, she was perfecting her pumpkin latte made with real pumpkin – I was lucky enough to try it and it’s delicious!
The coffee is always freshly ground, and they also offer a specially-brewed coffee that is 67 % less acidic with a smoother taste and can be served hot or cold.
I also sampled their espresso, and it’s just to my liking 🙂
Apart form delicious coffee-based drinks, teas and smoothies, another thing you will be able to enjoy at Soguk Lounge Cafe is Charlotte Valley’s delicious baking! The first week pastries are maple bacon scones, chocolate chip scones, apple, cherry, and cream cheese pastries, apple cake, and chocolate cake. Yum!
Mark your calendars: opening date is October 8th! Can’t wait! 🙂
Soguk Lounge Cafe is located on 5 West 2nd Street downtown, and it is open daily from 6am to 2pm, starting October 8th, 2014. Like them on Facebook here to stay updated on their specials. It’s strictly a coffee lounge from 6am-2pm and will reopen in the evening as the hookah lounge from 6pm-2am (still serving coffee then).
